Collateral

Heirloom Vegetables

A big event in Madison, WI with all home grown food prepared in amazing dishes. I wanted the design to look like an old seed packet with all of this amazing fresh food bursting out of it into the event. They liked the design so I got free tickets in return. So delicious.

Opera For The Young

Opera for the Young is an organization that puts on opera performances for children so they get a better understanding of the art form.

The client simply showed us photos of some paintings and other imagery they liked and said, "Make this." So I sat in my house one weekend with nothing but opera playing, pictures of paintings taped to the wall and this is what they got.

They loved it. Our AE got a hug.

Sf Soiree

Every good event needs a good promo, so that's where I come in. We made little postcard size promos to hand out. I got to design whatever I wanted. Usually we ended up drinking. Everyone wins.

Adhouse Mailer

You always want to keep in touch with your clients and so did ad agency AdHouse. So, they hired me to quickly illustrate and design a simple postcard style check-in. I kind of like the brain.

Roadster Rumble

A benefit event where anyone with a roadster brings it on by to show it off and all of the procedes are donated. The ghost of Elvis did not make an appearance at the event, unfortuantely.

Kartifacts
The name is a blending of 'artifacts' and 'go-kart.' A lot of the music on it alternates between modern tracks and nostalgic songs I remember hearing on the radio from childhood.

The car illustration on the right is the dope yellow Ford Fairmont my parents drove us kids around in.

Ghosts Fade with the Days

There were twelve songs on the album and each song corresponded to a specific holiday (or at least one nearby the corresponding month).

Them's a lot of ghosts.

Silent Apes Secret Fears of Dying Teeth

I have no idea what this means.

Blue Collar Sweetheart

I was going on a hike with some friends some years back and we were driving to the site. From the car we saw this girl in blue jean overalls standing outside of a gas station. As we passed, I looked at her, my arm hanging out the window and said, "Look at that little blue collar sweetheart." That's where great ideas come from, folks.

This CD is nice and gritty. I recommend a cheap whiskey in a dirty glass while listening.

Mission Posters

Ain't no party like a Mission party.

Feast with the Beasts

Imagine a warm summer day when the zoo in Madison opens its doors for free and there are food vendors and live music. That's what these posters promoted. Big hit for the kids.

I created the illustration in this poster in the style of the old science class film strip/video "Hemo the Magnificient." I recently bought it on DVD. That's how much of a great animation style it is.

The zoo also turned this into billboards, flyers, tickets and t-shirts.

Skirts & Sneakers Fundraiser

Fundraising is a tough thing, so it's usually easier to accomplish by enticing people with booze and a cover. Skirts & Sneakers was raising money for Team in Training at Mr. Smith's a few years ago. This poster happens to be one of my favorites.

Sf Soiree Prom Party

You heard me correctly, we threw a prom party at the Hilton's Cityscape bar. It was a lot of fun and the attendance and attire rivaled even some of the early Yelp theme parties, if I do say so myself.

I think this could've blown up Sf Soiree had all of us not had real jobs.

Kanopy Dance Posters

Kanopy is a modern dance company in Madison, WI. They're a great group of people that are known for their artistic and very expressive choreography. In their off time, they run a dance school. Like most art, they didn't have much of a budget, so I tried to create cheap, yet striking two color posters for Kanopy's shows.

Opera for the Young

Opera for the Young is an organization that puts on opera performances for children so they garner a better understanding of the art form.

I was hired to design and illustrate these in a very loose pen and ink style. I hope they didn't scare any kids.

Escape to Beantown

Just a funky poster for a big going away party. Not much else to say.

Old 97s

Show poster for the Old 97s when they came to Luther's Blues in Madison. I was hoping to get a signed copy from Rhett Miller and crew, but you can't have everything I suppose.
